She pitched two scoreless innings before allowing a double to Beatrice Ricchi and being relieved by Miu Goto, who struck out a batter and got two ground outs to escape the third inning. In the top of the fourth, third baseman Yu Yamamoto hit a two-run homer to give Japan a 2–0 lead. Fujita, batting next, hit a deep fly ball that Laura Vigna kept in the park.
