Description

The defending champions Las Vegas Aces head into their semifinal clash with the Phoenix Mercury looking to extend their dynasty run, while the Mercury aim to pull off an upset behind their resurgent form late in the season.

Las Vegas, led by A’ja Wilson, continues to dominate both ends of the court, with her MVP-caliber performances backed by Kelsey Plum’s perimeter shooting and Chelsea Gray’s veteran playmaking. The Aces’ fast tempo and defensive intensity have been their hallmark, but they’ll need to contain Phoenix’s perimeter threats to keep control.

Phoenix, rejuvenated after an inconsistent regular season, have leaned heavily on Diana Taurasi’s leadership and Kahleah Copper’s explosive scoring. Brittney Griner’s presence inside remains a key factor — if she can establish early rhythm against Wilson and Kiah Stokes, the Mercury could force a slower, half-court game that favors their style.

Expect a contrast of pace and experience: the Aces’ depth and defensive switches against Phoenix’s veteran shot-making and emotional push. Las Vegas enters as the clear favorite, but the Mercury’s playoff resilience has made them dangerous before — and they’ll need every bit of that to extend their season.
