Description

Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz vs Lamont Roach Jr is a high-stakes super-lightweight fight headlining PBC’s December card at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. The bout takes place on Saturday night in the U.S., which converts to early Sunday 7 December 2025 (UTC). Cruz defends his WBC interim super-lightweight title against one of the most technically sound fighters he has faced at 140 lb.

Cruz enters the fight coming off his best run as a professional, having captured the interim belt earlier in 2025 and continuing to build a reputation as one of boxing’s most explosive pressure fighters. His style is built on constant aggression, short hooks, upper-body strength and a heavy work rate that forces opponents into uncomfortable exchanges. Fighting at home in Texas only adds to his momentum.

Roach, a former WBA super-featherweight world champion, moves up to 140 lb for this opportunity. Known for his timing, counter-punching and discipline, Roach brings a far more patient and measured style, relying on clean boxing rather than physicality. After a controversial draw earlier in the year, he is looking to re-establish himself on the world stage and prove he can handle naturally stronger opponents.

This matchup hinges on whether Roach can maintain distance long enough to dictate the rhythm or whether Cruz’s pressure will close the ring and break Roach’s tempo. Cruz will want a physical, high-output fight; Roach will try to slow it down and box in straight lines. If Roach cannot hold his ground or earn respect early, the fight could tilt heavily toward Cruz. But if he manages to frustrate Cruz and control the lead hand battle, the night could become far more tactical than expected.

With a belt on the line, a big-fight atmosphere in San Antonio and two contrasting styles, Pitbull vs Roach has the ingredients of a compelling late-year main event and a significant moment for both men at super-lightweight.
