Description

The final day of the 2026 Dunlop Sydney 500 at Sydney Motorsport Park brings the curtain down on a historic season opener. Following a Friday night win by Broc Feeney and a rain-affected Saturday thriller won by Anton De Pasquale, the field enters Race 3 with the championship standings tightly congested. This afternoon’s 200km sprint (51 laps) shifts away from the floodlights into the heat of the day, demanding a different technical approach from the crews. With the "Sprint Cup" points on the line, the focus remains on the reliability of the new Toyota Supras and whether the Ford Mustangs can complete a weekend sweep of the top step.

Broc Feeney reclaimed the championship lead in dramatic fashion, surviving a brutal afternoon to win the final race of the Sydney 500. Starting from pole position, the Red Bull Ampol Racing star fended off a fierce challenge from rookie sensation Kai Allen to secure his first victory of the year.

The race was a test of physical and mechanical endurance. Feeney battled through a failing coolsuit in sweltering conditions, leaving him visibly distressed in parc ferme after the 52-lap marathon. While Feeney led much of the way, the highlight was a sensational "around the outside" pass by Kai Allen at Turn 1 following a late-race restart. However, Allen’s dream debut ended in heartbreak just laps later when a steering arm failure forced his Penrite Mustang into the pits.
