Description

The opening round of the 2026 Ayla Classic at the Ayla Golf Club was officially removed from the schedule following an urgent announcement from the MENA Tour. The strategic narrative for the week, which was set to focus on the Greg Norman-designed desert layout in Aqaba, has been replaced by logistical uncertainty. The primary hurdle for the field shifted from navigating the Red Sea winds to managing sudden travel disruptions. The tour cited the escalating regional conflict and outbreak of war in the Middle East as the definitive cause for the cancellation, prioritizing the safety of the international field and staff as the security situation in the region shifted rapidly.
