Description

The first heat of the 450SX class at the 2026 Daytona Supercross is a high-speed clash of titans. While the 250s have already chewed up the track, the premier class riders now face deep, treacherous ruts and a technical rhythm section that rewards raw power and precise timing.

The story of the night centers on Eli Tomac, the undisputed "King of Daytona." Tomac enters the evening with the second-fastest qualifying time and a singular focus: securing his eighth win at the World Center of Racing. However, he faces a rejuvenated Ken Roczen, the defending race winner who looks to prove that last year’s victory was no fluke. With Cooper Webb also in the mix—a rider known for finding creative lines as the track deteriorates—Heat 1 is a crucial opportunity for the front-runners to gauge the evolving track conditions and assert their dominance before the Main Event.

Result Description

Eli Tomac sent a clear message to the field in 450SX Heat 1, delivering a flawless, unchallenged performance to take the win. The Red Bull KTM rider secured the holeshot and immediately checked out, showcasing the blistering pace that has made him a legend at this venue. Tomac crossed the finish line with a commanding 5.092-second margin, looking exceptionally comfortable on the high-speed, technical layout.

Behind the leader, Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen engaged in a steady battle for the remaining podium spots. Webb maintained a strong pace to secure second place, while Roczen followed closely in third, both riders opting for a calculated approach to ensure a direct transfer to the Main Event. Aaron Plessinger provided the drama of the heat; despite an early fall that dropped him back, "The Cowboy" put on a charging performance to recover and finish fourth. Justin Cooper rounded out the top five, while the rest of the field battled through the deepening sand to secure their spots on the gate for the finale.
