Il Lombardia closes the Monument season with its historic 120th edition, sending the peloton from Bergamo to Como over 239 kilometres and 4,600 metres of climbing. The route combines the race’s traditional autumn character with a demanding finale built around the Madonna del Ghisallo, Civiglio and two ascents of San Fermo della Battaglia, creating multiple opportunities for long-range attacks before the descent into Como. With five-time winner Tadej Pogačar unlikely to defend his title because of injury, the race is set to open up significantly, giving riders such as Remco Evenepoel, Juan Ayuso, Brandon McNulty and other leading climbers a genuine opportunity to claim the final Monument of the season. The combination of prestige, history and an aggressive route should once again make the “Race of the Falling Leaves” one of the defining one-day races of the year.

Result Description
Paul Seixas produced a historic solo victory at Il Lombardia, becoming the youngest winner in the race’s 120-edition history. The 20-year-old Frenchman made his decisive move on the Civiglio, setting a relentless pace that gradually eliminated Remco Evenepoel, Isaac del Toro, Brandon McNulty, Tom Pidcock and Giulio Ciccone before riding clear alone. Seixas crested the climb with around half a minute in hand and extended his advantage through the final ascent of San Fermo della Battaglia before completing a remarkable 18-kilometre solo ride into Como. Enric Mas finished 48 seconds behind in second place, with Giulio Ciccone completing the podium at 1:05, while Remco Evenepoel had to settle for fourth. The victory gave Seixas his first Monument and established a new historical benchmark in one of cycling’s oldest and most prestigious Classics.
