Description

The second round of the 2026 Copper Rock Championship at Copper Rock Golf Course serves as the critical "Cut Line Duel" in Hurricane, Utah. The strategic narrative for Friday centers on the pressure of the 36-hole cut, where the top 60 and ties will secure their spot for Saturday's finale. The primary hurdle remains the "Hurricane Winds" that typically intensify in the afternoon, swirling through the red rock canyons and making distance control—already complicated by the high elevation—a significant tactical challenge.

The headline story for Round 2 is the scramble to stay within striking distance of the leaders while navigating the course's rugged transitions between lush fairways and native lava rock. Tactically, players in the morning wave will look to exploit the calmer air to attack the pins on the tiered greens, while the afternoon wave must adopt a more defensive approach. With a $250,000 purse and 500 Race for the Card points on the line, the second round often exposes those who fail to adjust their "desert math" for the thin air, which adds roughly 10% to every yardage.
