Description

The season-opening action of the PGA TOUR Americas continues at the Rio Olympic Golf Course, where the primary challenge remains the exposed, links-style layout that penalizes any lapse in concentration. The objective for the field in Round 2 is to secure a position above the top-60 (and ties) cut line, while contending with the increasingly firm fairways and coastal winds of Rio de Janeiro.

Strategically, the goal for the morning wave is to capitalize on the calmer air before the afternoon sea breeze transforms the back nine into a rigorous test of club selection. The tactical focus for the leaders, including overnight standout Andre Chi, is to maintain their aggressive approach to the reachable par-5s while navigating the complex bunkering that characterizes this Gil Hanse design. With the race for the Fortinet Cup officially in full swing, the ultimate goal for the contenders is to post a sub-70 score to ensure a late-afternoon tee time for Saturday's critical third round.
