Description

Takuma Inoue and Tenshin Nasukawa meet again in Tokyo with the WBC bantamweight world championship at stake, less than a year after Inoue defeated the former kickboxing superstar over 12 rounds to claim the vacant title. Inoue returns as champion after adding a successful defense to his résumé, while Nasukawa has fought his way back into contention by defeating Juan Francisco Estrada in a title eliminator. The rematch offers a sharper tactical test than their first meeting, with Nasukawa continuing to adapt his speed and southpaw style to elite-level boxing while Inoue brings greater championship experience and proven composure over the full distance. With a world title on the line and a major domestic rivalry at the centre of the card, the sequel stands as one of Japan’s most significant boxing events of the year.

Result Description

Takuma Inoue retained the WBC bantamweight world championship with a unanimous-decision victory over Tenshin Nasukawa in their Tokyo rematch, surviving the most dangerous moment of the fight after being dropped in the seventh round. Inoue controlled much of the first half behind his jab, straight right hand and sharper work at mid-range, but Nasukawa dramatically changed the momentum when a clean left hand sent the champion to the canvas. Inoue recovered well, regained control over the closing rounds and finished strongly enough to convince all three judges. The final scorecards read 116-111, 116-111 and 114-113, giving Inoue a second consecutive win over Nasukawa and a successful second defense of his WBC title.
