The women’s race at the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon brings together one of the deepest elite fields of the season, led by defending champion Hawi Feysa and former world record holder Brigid Kosgei. Feysa returns after a dominant victory in Chicago last year and will look to become a repeat champion on one of the fastest marathon courses in the world, while Kosgei makes a notable return to the city where she set a world record in 2019. They are joined by major contenders including Sutume Kebede, Megertu Alemu and Sharon Lokedi, giving the race significant depth across proven marathon champions and athletes capable of running well under 2:20. With Chicago’s flat course, consistently fast pacing and favorable conditions often producing exceptional performances, the women’s race has the potential to deliver both a close tactical battle and one of the quickest winning times of the year.

Result Description
Hawi Feysa successfully defended her Chicago Marathon title with a superb 2:13:33 victory, producing the fastest performance of her career and the second-fastest winning time in the history of the race. Feysa spent much of the closing stages locked in a direct battle with Sharon Lokedi, with the pair remaining together through 40 kilometres before the Ethiopian finally broke clear over the final 2.2 kilometres. Lokedi finished second in 2:14:07, just 34 seconds behind, while former world record holder Brigid Kosgei completed the podium in 2:14:55. Feysa’s victory made her a back-to-back Chicago champion and confirmed her status among the leading marathon runners in the world.
