Description

Mondo Duplantis enters the men’s pole vault final as the overwhelming favourite, but Emmanouil Karalis, Sam Kendricks and the rest of a world-class field will look to force the Olympic and world champion into another high-pressure battle in Budapest. With Duplantis continuing to redefine the event’s limits and Karalis enjoying one of the strongest seasons of his career, the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship final has the potential to produce both a major title duel and another attack on the world record.

Result Description

Mondo Duplantis claimed the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship pole vault title in Budapest with another commanding performance, clearing 6.20m to defeat Emmanouil Karalis, who pushed him deep into the competition with a 6.15m clearance. With victory secured, Duplantis raised the bar to 6.32m in an attempt to improve his own world record, but difficult wind conditions prevented him from completing another historic clearance.
